Last updated 8/4/2016 at Noon

The National Weather Service is expecting low rain chances into this weekend, but increasing next week. No widespread severe weather is expected, but stronger storms could produce gusty winds in the 40 to 50 mph range.

Temperatures will be in the mid to upper 90s this weekend, before dropping slightly next week due to the rain into the low to mid 90s. Nevertheless, maximum heat indices will be in the 103 to 109 F range, so some locations will reach the heat advisory criteria of 108 F each day in the next week.

In the tropics, Earl has made landfall in Belize and weakened to a tropical storm. It is expected to continue to weaken and dissipate in the next 24 hours. It poses no threat to our region. Elsewhere, no tropical activity is expected in the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean, or tropical Atlantic Ocean.
