Scattered showers expected to remain into next week

The National Weather Service is expecting a continuation of scattered showers and thunderstorms each day, lingering into the evening. This pattern will last through the weekend before improvements may be seen by the middle of next week. In the meantime, localized areas could see 1-3 inches of rain. If this rain falls over areas that are already vulnerable due to last weekend's rains, flash flood warning will be issued.

Temperatures will run near normal for the next week, thanks to the cloud cover and rain.

In the tropics, Tropical Storm Fiona will remain in the Atlantic and pose no threat to our region. A tropical wave coming off the coast of Africa could develop this weekend or next week, but it poses no risk to the Gulf of Mexico in the next week.

Beyond that time frame, however, we will need to monitor where it is located and how strong it is.
