Kirk Douglas Tiller , 61 Beaumont

Kirk Douglas Tiller was born on May 8, 1956 to Malcolm and Rachel Tiller in Beaumont, Texas. He later became a big brother to David, Paula, and Kimberly. Kirk attended school in Beaumont and played football for French High School. He played as a lineman on the team that won district in 1973. Kirk attended Lamar University and then worked as a carpenter. He married his high school sweetheart Jolyn Stanley in 1983. Their first child, Patrick, was born in 1985.

Soon after, Kirk started working for himself doing remodeling jobs. Their second child Caitlin was born in 1988, followed by their youngest Nathan in 1991. Kirk became a home builder and formed KT Construction. He served as President of the Home Builders Association of SETX in 1994. He later went to work for ACI in Batesville, Mississippi. In 1998, he survived a plane crash at Jefferson County Airport when heading back to Mississippi. After a long recovery, he decided to stay in Beaumont and became a contractor specializing in metal buildings. At the time of his death, he was owner of Metal Building Services, Inc.

Kirk enjoyed playing games, watching sports, and entertaining his endless group of friends. He was a big fan and supporter of Lamar Baseball, spending countless hours at the games and cooking for the team. He loved fishing and hunting which he learned from his late Uncle Jerry Whitton.

Kirk loved his family and had many friends who will miss him. He was very close to his cousins and loved his nieces and nephews dearly. He adored his two grandsons, Cayden Tiller, and Parker Milich.

He is survived by his wife, Jolyn Tiller, of Beaumont; sons, Patrick Tiller, of China; and Nathan Tiller, of Beaumont; daughter, Caitlin Tiller Milich and her husband, Brian, of Beaumont; grandchildren, Cayden Tiller, and Parker Milich; father, Malcolm Tiller, of Beaumont; brother, David Tiller, of Beaumont; sisters, Paula Martin, of Beaumont; and Kimberly Hester and her husband, Scott, of Beaumont; many cousins, including, Gloria Burks, of Warren; and many nieces and nephews.

Kirk was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harmerlee and Norma Durrett; and by his mother, Rachel Tiller.

A gathering of Mr. Tiller’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 26, 2017, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 27, 2017, at Broussard’s. A family committal will be held at Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.
