R.W. “Bill” Cady, 85, of Orange, passed away on July 19, 2017.Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, July 22, 2017, at First Baptist Church in Bridge City.

Officiating will be Pastor Doug Shows.

Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m.

to 3:00 p.m., Saturday, at First Baptist Church in Bridge City.Born in Indian Bayou, Louisiana, on October 25, 1931, he was the son of Ranzy C. Cady and Irene A. Sarver.

Bill served in the Army during the Korean conflict and was wounded during his service.

He returned home after he was honorably discharged from service in 1954.

He started to give blood in 1954 and continued to do so for 50 years until he was diagnosed with cancer.

He enjoyed helping others and always sat with sick church members at the hospital to keep them company.

He was a board member of the Bridge City Water District for many years and a member of the Masonic Lodge #1345 Bridge City, Texas.

He was also a member of the Circle Drive Baptist Church of Bridge City and helped organize and build the present church.

He was most recently a member of First Baptist Church of Bridge City, Texas.

Bill will be missed by those who knew and loved him.He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Mark Cady; his daughter, Debbie Caldwell; his sisters, Marjorie Lewis and Vernell Walters; and his brother, Ranzy Cady.He is survived by wife of 62 years, Jerrie Cady; his sons, James W. Cady and his wife Anna of Nederland, and Stephen C. Cady of Houston; and his grandchild, Devin Caldwell.
