Deborah Mitchell, of the Altrusa Club of Orange and Cookie Grant, Ginger Stanbery and Debbye Converse of the Montgomery Altrusa, spent Friday morning at North Orange Baptist Church cooking spaghetti for the students and staff of Little Cypress Elementary (LCE).

According to Ms. Grant, Deborah Mitchell is the organizer of the event, and with the help of the Montgomery Altrusa, raised funds through the Texas District 9 convention last weekend for the project. The group also brought over 400 books, some with authors’ signatures, for each child to take home for their own.

So that the LCE third graders attending Little Cypress Intermediate will not be left out, the Club will provide pizza and watermelon on their Field day, later in May.

Altrusa Clubs have sent previous donations to help LCM staff and students as they are recovering from Hurricane Harvey and have also given a $2,500 grant to help with recovery in the City of Orange.
