Happy Johnny Appleseed Day

Last updated 9/27/2018 at Noon

On September 26, 1774 John Chapman was born in Massachusetts. In his early twenties, Chapman began traveling across the country planting apple (and pear) trees and orchards, buying books, telling stories and then giving books away.

Chapmen became known as Johnny Appleseed. He would even travel many miles to bring trees back to health when he received word that they were ailing.

Appleseed became known as wise, caring and kind.

Mrs. Suzy Wimberley’s 2nd grade class celebrated Johnny Appleseed day by eating applesauce.
