In Tuesday's council meeting, Chief Fred R. Hanauer III presented certificates of Meritorious Service to two Pinehurst police officers. Chief Hanauer stated that Officers Kevin Norton and Joshua Lockett exhibited service above and beyond the call of duty on two different events where their actions very well may have saved lives. On 12/07/2018 Officer Lockett responded to an industrial accident and was able to apply a touriquet to a partially severed arm which stopped the bleeding until EMS arrived.

On 12/29/2019 Officer Norton responded to a medical call where a child was not breathing. Officer Norton determined the child had a blocked airway which he was able to clear and restore breathing.

Also present at the meeting was Lanie Brown of Congressman Brian Babin's office who also presented Norton and Lockett certificates of Special Congessional Recognition signed by Congressman Babin. Also present at the meeting was the victims and their families.
