Olson Engineering received the Business of the Year award Monday evening during the Bridge City Chamber of Commerce Taste of the Bayou 59th Annual Banquet.

"We are very honored to receive this award," said Kevin Mott, of Olson Engineering.

With safety, responsiveness, ethics and quality in the forefront of their minds, Mike and Karan Olson founded Olson Engineering, Inc. in 1998.

Their business started small as a process control systems and capital project management company while providing instrument and control systems engineering to local industries.

Two years later they expanded by adding employees and including services such as electrical engineering and design as well as adding other client facilities to their portfolio.

By 2006, they were looking to expand again and chose to relocate their team to a rented office space in Bridge City. But, the ever growing company needed additional space. This led them to acquire a newly built 10,000 square foot building. This was still not enough space since the business was continuing to grow in leaps and bounds in both services and the number of employees.

As a result, Olson engineering added an additional 4,000 square feet of office space in 2017 at their same location.

Olson Engineering has continued with their same cornerstone of ideas which began with safety, responsiveness, ethics and quality, but has added more to their goals. They are now a full service, multi-discipline engineering company with professional engineers in every discipline providing the petrochemical market with both " in office" and "in plant" services.

Once again, Olson Engineering has experienced growth and is looking to expand with a new, larger building in Bridge City. This one was recently finalized and will be 22,000 square feet, according to Mott.

"We're really glad we can stay in Bridge City," Mott said.

Mott also said the company is looking to expand to Mont Belvieu to service the Houston petrochemical industry as well.

"One of the reasons we make this our home is because we love Bridge City," Mike Olson said.
