More than 40 costumed high school drama students from the area will be turning back the hands of time in the Fourth Annual Heritage House Historic Ghost Walk in downtown Orange.

Ghost Walk begins at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Heritage House Museum, 905 W. Division Ave, a block west from the Orange County Courthouse.

The event offers participants a short walk through downtown with stops at seven historic sites featuring murder and mayhem.

The students will help set the mood and tell the tales.

Admission is $2 for children, $3 for adults and $10 for a family.

Students from Bridge City tell the tale of Floto the escaped circus animal during last year’s Ghost Walk.

Tour groups will leave every 15 minutes with the last group leaving at 7:30 p.m.

Docents will have games and refreshments to pass time if people have to wait for a group to leave.

Sue Denosowicz, president of the Heritage House Board of Directors, said the Ghost Walk is a fun way to learn local history. The stories are true events with a bit of lore and legend tossed in.

For this year’s Ghost Walk, historic photos from the museum’s vast collection will be enlarged and posted along the route to show what historic buildings stood a century ago.

Comfortable shoes are recommended. Benches are available along the boardwalk for people who need to rest – if they don’t mind being joined by a ghostly figure.

Heritage House will furnish water and mosquito repellant.
