The Bridge City Chamber of Commerce announced the December Student of the Month for Orangefield High School is Jaysie Banken. Jaysie was presented her certificate and gift bag by Bridge City Chamber Ambassador, Maureen McAllister, President and CEO of United Way Orange County, at the December coffee hosted by Bridge City ISD. Jaysie is the daughter of Jason Banken and Terri Banken. She is ranked 39 of 120 with a GPA of 3.8.

Mrs. Trawhon, Debate, said, “Jaysie Banken has a positive attitude and a genuine smile.

She is a huge University of Alabama football fan and supports the Crimson Tide no matter what! During her four years at Orangefield High School, Jaysie has been a member of various clubs and organizations.

She has assisted with the speech/debate team, served as OHS junior varsity mascot and the varsity mascot.

She participated in UIL ONE ACT PLAY as stagehand in 2017 and received an award for Best Technical Crew for her assistance.

Jaysie is a "behind the scenes" kind of leader.

She is dependable and will make sure tasks are completed--without being reminded.

Jaysie Banken is most deserving of the honor of Student of the Month.

Roll tide!”

Mrs. Oregel, Pre-Cal, said, “Jaysie is a sweet student and has worked very hard in class so far. She always comes in and gets extra help when needed. I have enjoyed having her in Precal and look forward to seeing her grow in her work this year.”

Mrs. Spears, Family Consumer Science, said, “Jaysie Banken is one of the most unique, most devoted students I've ever taught. She is competitive and goal oriented; yet kind and creative. Jaysie has a clear vision and a proven drive that is sure to help her achieve her goals.”

Mrs. Jenkins, Chemistry, “Jaysie is an intelligent young lady who is able to grasp quickly and accurately even the most complex of concepts. She takes her academic success very seriously. Jaysie is also a caring person who is always willing to reach out to her fellow students.”

Mr. Chevalier, English 4, said, “Jaysie Banken is willing, at a moment's notice, to lend a hand in helping others. Also, there is no greater, more dedicated Crimson Tide fan that I have ever met.”

Mrs. Wilbur, English 3, said “Jaysie Banken is delightful in the classroom. She is one of the most dependable students I've ever had the pleasure of teaching, and there is nothing Jaysie can't do once she sets her mind to it. I have no doubt she will exceed her own expectations.”

Jaysie plans to attend an accredited esthetician school to obtain a license as a medical aesthetician. After obtaining this I plan to go to college and get a degree in either sports management, sports medicine or kinesiology.

She received gift certificates and gifts from: COS Printing, Wellspring Credit Union, Tiger Rock Martial Arts of Bridge City, Sabine Federal Credit Union, Neches Federal Credit Union, Bridge City Walmart, Bridge City Bank, 5Point Credit Union and Best Day Spa.
