LCM students awarded at Stark Reading contest

Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School held the campus finals for the 116th Miriam Lutcher Stark Contest in Reading and Declamation on Sunday. Elizabeth Johns took First Place and Kiera Figgins, Second. In the Interpretive Reading portion of the contest, Lucas Ridout earned First and Karlie Wedel, Second. The Stark Foundation provides Second place winners a $1500 scholarship and First place carries a $2,000 scholarship. First place winners from all County High Schools will compete on Sunday, April 26, at 2 p.m. at the Lutcher Theater. Winners of the County-level Contest will receive additional scholarships and prizes.
