What’s one of the biggest must-have items as hardy Orange County residents await the arrival of likely Hurricane Laura?

Generators.

Monday afternoon, there wasn’t one to be found in town.

The folks at Honda of Orange are meeting the demand in a big way.

“I’ve got 115 generators arriving Tuesday,” owner Mark Frey said Monday afternoon. “I’m not sure how many will be available, though. It depends on how many we pre-sell.”

Frey estimated he had already written up sales tickets for about two dozen of the alternative power supply by 5 p.m. Monday.

“I sold about 35 generators since last Friday,” he said. “But we should have plenty of Honda generators [Tuesday].”

Frey said other big sellers at his store this week had been ECHO power equipment: chainsaws, blowers and storm cleanup equipment.
