Susan O. Sexton, age 93, formerly of Orange, Texas passed away Friday, September 11, 2020 in the comfort of her granddaughter Hope's home in Richmond, TX.

Susan was born August 10, 1927 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Alexander and Susanna Olah, immigrants from Budapest, Hungary that came to the United States to escape the beginning of WWI.  Susan grew up on the family farm in Hellertown, PA. In 1969 she moved to Portage, IN where she worked in factories until she moved and settled in Orange, TX in 1981 with her husband James Hank Sexton. She worked in several care giving positions until she retired at age 70, then strictly focused on caring for her pets and her yard, which both made her incredibly happy and gave her great pleasure. In 2017, Hurricane Harvey destroyed her home which brought her to live with her granddaughter Hope Patterson- Rodriguez and her husband Rod in Richmond, TX. While in Richmond, TX she did not stop working in the yard and tending to her cats that were saved from the flood. She enjoyed being outside and being with nature whether that was lizards or birds she did not care. She loved all animals. She also made many friends during the brief time living in Richmond, TX. Everyone who knew her loved her. She was the most humble, kind and caring person. She was a blessing to have in our lives and will leave a huge hole in our hearts, but we are comforted in knowing she is with Our Lord and Savior and at great peace now. Her ashes will be scattered at her parent's gravesites in Hellertown, PA, along with her brother Andy's ashes. She always wanted to go back to the farm where she had her fondest memories of her parents and living a simple joyful life, although full of hard work and sacrifice.

She was preceded in death by her ex-husband James Hank Sexton, but they remained remarkably close friends and she was at his bedside at the time of his death. She is survived by her daughter LeeAnn Lyczany and husband Michael of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, and son Chalmers "Jay" Olah and his diseased wife Christine Joyce Olah of Houston, Texas. She had 2 granddaughter's, Susan Miksa and her husband Sonny of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Hope Patterson- Rodriguez and her husband Rod of Richmond, TX. Susan also had 2 great granddaughters, the daughters of Susan Miksa, Amelia and Abigail. She is also survived by her stepdaughter Carolyn Sexton Garcia and her husband Joe of New Iberia, LA.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday September 23rd at 1:00 pm at Faith Lutheran Church located at 800 Brooks Street, Sugar Land, TX. In lieu of any flowers Susan would love to see donations made to an animal rescue organization in your area that are terribly underfunded, overburdened and overpopulated. Animals were her life and love and she would love to see something good be done for them in her name.
