Sue Kay, 82, of Bridge City, passed away on October 8, 2020 in Beaumont. Born in Florien, Louisiana, on May 23, 1938, she was the daughter of Fred Alexander Salter and Inez (Mahaffey) Salter. Sue was a homemaker, which meant she had all the time in the world to cook and perfect every recipe she had. Everyone loved her thanksgiving dinner and they always left with a full belly. When Christmas came, she made the best candy and a piece was never left behind. Sue adored her family more than anything and was also known as “Maw Maw” to her precious grandchildren and great grandchildren. She left an impact on many lives and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Inez Salter; sister, Norma Salter Scoggins; and first husband, Don Harrington. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, S.P. Kay; children Jeanie Rhea and husband Steve of DeRidder, Louisiana, Jill Sons and husband John of Sulphur, Louisiana, Donna Clawson and husband Steve of Big Lake, Louisiana, and Kathy Monceaux and husband Jeff of Bridge City; grandchildren, Michael Rhea and wife Kelli, Troy Sons and wife Stephanie, Steven Sons, Loren Brouillette and husband Houston Wurtle, Carly Gintz and husband Brad, Kyle Kresser and wife Brandy, Kasey Monceaux, and Bailee Monceaux; 14 great grandchildren; and sister, Shirley Salter Lanclos of Lafayette, Louisiana. Cremation will be under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home.
