Games This Week

WEST ORANGE-STARK over LIBERTY—The Mustangs are well on their way down the road to another district championship, but must be wary of those media hacks who count their chickens before they hatch. The Panthers definitely will not be congenial hosts Friday night when the Mustangs arrive and will do everything possible to make their three-hour stay as unpleasant as possible.

LITTLE CYPRESS-MAURICEVILLE over LUMBERTON—Hopefully this is the week the Battlin’ Bears jump into the victory column. But it won’t come easy and it will be classified as an upset. LC-M needs to play four quarters of solid football to make me look good like the Atlanta Falcons and New York Giants did for me on Sunday.

BRIDGE CITY over ORANGEFIELD—This is a tremendous rivalry involving two teams who were soundly defeated last week and are really mad!! The winner will be presented the Buzzy Gunn Memorial Award which will be presented to the team that makes the fewest mistakes.

VIDOR over LIVINGSTON—The Pirates are coming off a solid victory over cross-county rival LCM and would love to close out this strange season with three wins. But they can’t be looking ahead to next week’s clash with state-ranked Huffman before taking care of business at Livingston Friday night.

DEWEYVILLE over EVADALE—The Pirates also have a chance of finishing the year with a string of victories. After all, the Pirates shellacked Hull-Daisetta two weeks ago which defeated the Rebels last week. Too bad it doesn’t work that way. It will take another stellar performance by the Pirates to win Friday night.

HIGH SCHOOL—Galena Park North Shore over Beaumont West Brook, Beaumont United over Friendswood, Port Arthur Memorial over Galveston Ball, Port Neches-Groves over Nederland, Splendora over Huffman, Jasper over Shepherd, Silsbee over Hamshire-Fannett, Buna over Anahuac, East Chambers over Kirbyville, Woodville over Hardin, Anderson-Shiro over Kountze, New Waverly over Corrigan-Camden, Hemphill over Warren, San Augustine over Garrison, Timpson over West Hardin, West Sabine over Colmesneil, Tenaha over Cushing, Hull-Daisetta over Burkeville, Sabine Pass over High Island, Houston Lutheran North over Beaumont legacy Christian, Houston The Village over Beaumont Kelly.

COLLEGE—Appalachian State over Arkansas State (Thursday); Tulsa over South Florida and Louisiana-Lafayette over UAB (Both Friday); Boston College over Georgia Tech, Louisville over Florida State, Notre Dame over Pittsburgh, Alabama over Tennessee, North Carolina over North Carolina State, Virginia Tech over Wake Forest, Clemson over Syracuse, Coastal Carolina over Georgia Southern, Miami over Virginia, UCF over Tulane, Houston over Navy, Penn State over Indiana, Michigan State over Rutgers, Ohio State over Nebraska, Texas over Baylor, SMU over Cincinnati, Oklahoma over TCU, Auburn over Ole Miss, West Virginia over Texas Tech, Memphis over Temple, Kansas State over Kansas, LSU over South Carolina, South Alabama over Louisiana-Monroe, Northwestern over Maryland, BYU over Texas State, Colorado State over New Mexico, Boise State over Utah State, Marshall over Florida Atlantic, Fresno State over Hawaii, San Diego State over UNLV, Nevada over Wyoming, Liberty over Southern Mississippi, Troy over Georgia State, Charlotte over UTEP, Rice over Middle Tennessee State, UTSA over Louisiana Tech, Missouri over Kentucky (Upset Special).

PRO PICKS—Philadelphia over NY Giants (Thursday); Green Bay over Houston, Pittsburgh over Tennessee, Buffalo over NY Jets, Cleveland over Cincinnati, New Orleans over Carolina, Atlanta over Detroit, Dallas over Washington, Seattle over Arizona, Kansas City over Denver, San Francisco over New England, LA Chargers over Jacksonville, Tampa Bay over Las Vegas (all Sunday); Chicago over LA Rams (Monday Night). Bye week for Indianapolis, Baltimore, Miami and Minnesota.
