Games This Week

LIVINGSTON over LITTLE CYPRESS-MAURICEVILLE—The Battlin’ Bears posted their first victory last week 14-13 when Lumberton failed on a two-point conversion to win and must know that this week’s foe will be a tougher task plus the game being on the road. Hopefully the Bears can build on that win and upset the Lions Friday night.

LIBERTY over BRIDGE CITY—The Redbirds got soundly blanked by rival Orangefield in the Bayou Bowl last week and will face an angry bunch of Panthers this week who were strummed by the West Orange-Stark Mustangs. An upset victory will give the Cards at least an outside shot at a playoff berth.

ORANGEFIELD over HAMSHIRE-FANNETT—The Bobcats rebounded nicely from the defeat the West Orange Stark Mustangs handed them the week before. The Longhorns have yet to win a district game and desperately need to get off the “schneide” and post a victory. The ‘Cats need to pick up where they left off last week by blanking Bridge City 22-0 and earning the Buzzie Gunn Bayou Bowl trophy.

HUFFMAN over VIDOR—The Pirates have been coming up a bit short in most of their losses and are probably playing the toughest team on their 2020 schedule Friday night. An upset victory is just what the doctor ordered to help the Pirates get into the state playoffs.

DEWEYVILLE over BURKEVILLE—The Pirates are on a roll, looking great in last week’s victory over Evadale in the annual River Bowl and should continue to thrive this week against the Burkeville Pirates.

HIGH SCHOOL—Port Neches-Groves over Dayton, Barbers Hill over Crosby, Nederland over Santa Fe, Splendora over Lumberton, Jasper over Center, Silsbee over Hardin-Jefferson, Anahuac over Kirbyville, East Chambers over Woodville, Tarkington over Hardin, Warren over Corrigan-Camden, Newton over Hemphill, New Waverly over Kountze, Garrison over West Hardin, Mount Enterprise over Colmesneil, Tenaha over Overton, Evadale over Sabine Pass, Hull-Daisetta over High Island, Houston Westbury Christian over Beaumont Legacy Christian, The Woodlands John Cooper over Beaumont Kelly.

COLLEGE—Georgia Southern over South Alabama and Colorado State over Fresno State (both Thursday); Marshall over Florida International, Tulsa over East Carolina, Minnesota over Maryland and Hawaii over Wyoming (all Friday); Michigan over Michigan State, Wake Forest over Syracuse, North Carolina over Virginia, Florida Atlantic over UTSA, Kansas State over West Virginia, Clemson over Boston College, Virginia Tech over Louisville, Notre Dame over Georgia Tech, Duke over Charlotte, Coastal Carolina over Georgia State, Indiana over Rutgers, Ohio State over Penn State, Cincinnati over Memphis, Purdue over Illinois, San Diego State over Utah State, Brigham Young over Western Kentucky, San Jose State over New Mexico, North Texas over UTEP, Boise State over Air Force, Nevada over UNLV, Southern Mississippi over Rice, SMU over Navy, Iowa over Northwestern, Oklahoma State over Texas, Wisconsin over Nebraska, Oklahoma over Texas Tech, Tulane over Temple, Louisiana-Lafayette over Texas State, Arkansas State over Troy, Baylor over TCU (Upset Special), Central Florida over Houston, Iowa State over Kansas, LSU over Auburn, UAB over Louisiana Tech, Ole Miss over Vanderbilt, Appalachian over Louisiana-Monroe, Alabama over Mississippi State, Texas A&M over Arkansas, Missouri over Florida (Upset Special), Georgia over Kentucky.

PRO PICKS—Carolina over Atlanta (Thursday Night); Buffalo over New England, Tennessee over Cincinnati, Kansas City over NY Jets, LA Rams over Miami, Indianapolis over Detroit, Cleveland over Las Vegas, Pittsburgh over Baltimore (Upset Special), Green Bay over Minnesota, LA Chargers over Denver, Chicago over New Orleans, Seattle over San Francisco, Philadelphia over Dallas (all Sunday); Tampa Bay over NY Giants (Monday Night). Bye week for Houston, Jacksonville, Arizona and Washington.
