Observe the beauty of Christmas art during our Lunch & Look @ Home: The Nativity in Art program on Friday, December 11, 2020 from Noon to 1:00 p.m. 

Take a lunch break at your home or office and virtually visit the Stark Museum of Art using the Zoom platform. Curator Sarah E. Boehme will discuss the Boehm Nativity, supplemented with a slide talk on the Christmas story in art. Participants will learn about the origins of the crèche, the Nativity in sculptural form. The talk will explore the tradition in other art forms such as Books of Hours illuminations and stained glass.  

Jennifer Restauri Dickinson commented, "We are thrilled to offer the Lunch & Look @ Home program again and to highlight our exhibit featuring the Boehm Porcelain Nativity. This program will provide visitors with the opportunity to come together virtually and look closely at this incredibly beautiful and moving work of art. The virtual platform will actually allow us to take participants closer than ever as we examine the Boehm Nativity and the Books of Hours from the Stark Museum of Art's collection. This is definitely a program that you will not want to miss!"

Curator Sarah Boehme commented, "It is wonderful to have the opportunity to explore the background and history of the beautiful Boehm Nativity with our audience. I will be comparing other examples of the Christmas story including stained glass from neighborhood churches. Many families, churches, and community organizations have Nativity scenes, and we hope this talk will relate to your holiday traditions."
