Monceaux named December OFHS Student

The Bridge City Chamber of Commerce has announced the December Student of the Month for Orangefield High School is Sydney Monceaux. Sydney was presented her certificate by Bridge City Board of Director, Kim Smalley.

Sydney is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Darrell and Glenda Monceaux. She is ranked 13th of 119 and has a GPA of 4.3.

Sydney's future plans are to attend McNeese University next fall to earn a bachelor's degree in Radiology. She would like to become a Radiologic Technologist and then pursue certificates in CT Scans, MRI's and Radiation Therapy.

Sydney's awards and honors include:

• Big "O" Awards for Family and Consumer Science

• Highest Honors Award – Freshman, Sophomore and Jr Year

• 1st and 2nd place Bible Quiz Winner

• 2nd Place UIL Spelling - 8th

Sydney's clubs and organizations include:

• National Honor Society

• Interact Club

Sydney's community service/work experience:

• Bridge City Library Volunteer

• Volunteers at Church with kids church and vacation bible school


Kimberly Spears, Family and Consumer Science Teacher said, "Sydney has such a sweet spirit. I've enjoyed having her in class the past 3 years. She is intelligent, witty and always stays true to herself.'

Sunshine Copeland, Librarian said, "Sydney is our library aide. She is a hard worker and never complains about any task that she is asked to perform. Her work ethic sets her apart from others and we have been so lucky to have her at OHS."

Simone Oregel, Math Teacher said, "Sydney is a sweet hard-working student. I am proud of her and glad I was able to teach her."


Ron Chevalier, English IV Teacher said, "Sydney brings a smile and is a joyous presence everyday in class. She demonstrates insight and strong intellect yet also compassion and encouragement to those around her."
