Award Winning BCHS Strutters pose again on historic swing bridge

Last updated 12/8/2020 at 6:04pm

The Bridge City Strutters line up on the Cow Swing Bayou Bridge donning their new 'Texas skirts' made by Traci Ewing of Bridge City. The photo production entailed local photographer Tishy Bryant taking pictures on ground while Leon Mendizabal captured this image using a drone over Cow Bayou.

The photo is a remake of the original Strutters photo on the historic swing bridge done in 2009 by Mark Dunn of The Record Newspapers. It was taken from the roof of the no longer existent Toupe's Marina. The original 35 'Texas skirts' had been hand sown by Debbie English, a Strutters mom, and the photo is now part of the state archive held by the Texas Historical Commission.

Mendizabal is also making a video of the entire process of the 2020 Strutters walking on the bridge as traffic is stopped by Chief Brinson. Bridge City's Cow Bayou Swing Bridge is listed in the National Register of Historic Places, an ideal location to pose the award winning BCHS Strutters in their new 'Texas skirts."
