Mother’s Special Day

by Pearl Burgess

My thoughts go back to my younger life

When my true love asked me to be his wife.

Together we were happy as we could be

Time blessed us with children, there were three.

They stumbled and laughed as we watched them play

Growing so fast each and every day.

As they grew older, we were never apart

The love for each other came from the heart.

Years went by, each left their nest

To make a home like all of the rest.

The families have grown and happy too

I love each one, they know it is true.

I’ll lay aside my favorite book

It’s a special day to bake and cook.

The door swings open, I hear them say

We love you very much,

Happy Mother’s Day!
