Orangefield names Matlock and Washington top grads in 2021

The Orangefield High School Class of 2021 Valedictorian is Jezlyn Matlock and the Salutatorian is Tyler Washington.

Jezlyn is the daughter of Leroy and Zena Matlock and is ranked 1st our of 119 with a GPA of 4.82. Her awards include Various Big “O” Awards: Honors English II, Health Education, and Human Services; Highest Honors Award - Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior Year and Miriam Lutcher Stark Interpretive Reading Contest: 1st Place April 2018. She was involved with multiple clubs and organizations which include National Honor Society; Family, Career and Community Leaders of America Member; 2018-present Meet in the Middle Member 2018-present; Sophomore Class President 2018-2019; Be the One Student Leaders 2017-present; Fellowship of Christian Athletes 2017-2018; Freshman Class Treasurer 2017-2018; Interact Club Member 2017-2018 and Lady Bobcat Athletics 2017-2018.

Jezlyn plans on attendingTexas A&M University to pursue a career as a physician’s assistant.

Tyler Washington is the son of Patrick and Tahia Washington and is ranked 2nd out of 119 with a GPA of 4.79.

He has many awards and honors which include Various Big “O” Awards: Chemistry and Algebra II;

Highest Honors Award - Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior Year; BC-OF Rotary Club Award; Mr. OHS and Class Salutatorian.

Tyler was involved in the National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Breakfast Club throughout High School. He plans on attending Texas A&M next fall for pre-dental and eventually would like to become a dentist.
