Pinehurst Church & Salon to host Back to School event

Hair & Co., 1541 Strickland Drive, is hosting a free back-to-school event from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7.

Free haircuts, backpacks and shaved ice are offered for students grades pre-K through 12th grade in an event put on by Destiny Church and Hair & Co.

Kona Ice will provide the shaved ice treats. The event is open to students of all area schools. “We did this last year and it was absolutely great,” said Johnny Asevedo, Pinehurst city alderman and pastor of Destiny Church.

“Hair & Co. is volunteering their staff and the use of their facility. Then there’s Kona Ice and a number of local businesses who are sponsoring the backpacks," he said. "My heart loves the local community and this is a great opportunity to give back to the community.”
