Russell Richard Dickerson, 86, of Orange, passed away on September 3, in Beaumont. Graveside services will be 10:00 a. m., Thursday, September 9, at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.

Born in Floyd County, Virginia, on March 15, 1935, he was the son of Albert Dickerson and Glady (Agnew) Dickerson.

Russell lived an interesting and fully active life. Not only was he a self-employed Heavy Equipment Operator and served in the Navy; he loved fish, shrimp, deep sea fishing with his cousin Butch Myers, and just sitting in a boat while fishing with his son. Richard was a man that could fix anything and enjoyed working on cars, especially hot rods. He was the most dependable man there was, he always came to the rescue when anyone needed something. Richard meant a lot to many people and will be deeply missed by those that held him close.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Gladys Dickerson; wife, Jane Dickerson; siblings, Howard Dickerson, Jim Dickerson, Wayne Dickerson, Albert Dickerson, Jr., Helen Howell, Lucille Dickerson, Roger Dickerson, as well as his infant brother, Raymond Dickerson.

He is survived by his children, Russell Richard “Ricky” Dickerson, Jr., and Edith Reese and husband Ned; grandchildren, Janey Schwegel and husband Michael, Stacy Trammell, and Blaine O’Quinn; and great-grandchildren, Naomi Fells, Taya Fells, Tegan Schwegel, Aiden Taylor, Jaxon Taylor, and Sophia Trammell.
