Shawn Hare, a fifth-generation Orange County resident, has announced that he intends to run for County Commissioner Precinct 2 in the 2022 elections.

"As commissioner, I will ensure that the Orange County Commissioner's Court will address the growing need for infrastructure, be fiscally responsible, provide adequate funding for our law enforcement, and address the growing need for housing and job development," Hare said.

Hare said that he has considered running for office for a while, and now is the most opportune time for him to begin work as a public servant.

"Orange County will soon experience an economic boom bigger than anything we've seen since around World War II. I'm running for this office to build success and opportunities for our community," he said.

Regarding drainage and flooding issues, Hare said that it is important to think of drainage as county and region-wide issue; requiring a comprehensive county assessment and planning strategy and that it will be a priority to work in tandem with the Cities of Orange County, the Orange County Drainage District, The Army Corps of Engineers, and neighboring counties.

Although Hare only recently announced his intent to run for Commissioner of Precinct 2, he has already received a number of endorsements.

Rob Clark, of Architectural Alliance, Inc., said, "Having observed his collaborative skills and unquestionable commitment to Orange County communities, Shawn will bring the skills necessary to move his community into the next generation of growth, development, and improved quality of life for families."

Jerry Agee, Operations Manager for Chevron, also voiced his endorsement for Hare.

"I've known Shawn for 25 years. His forward thinking, his experience, and his commitment to the community make him the most qualified candidate for county commissioner," Agee said.

"As a local businessman and rancher, I understand Orange County's economy, our unique needs, and I have deep roots in our community," Hare said.

Shawn Hare, a fifth-generation Orange resident comes from a long line of community-oriented farmers and ranchers. Hare served under Senator Arlen Specter (R) in Washington D.C. in 1994-1995. Hare is an active member of the Press Club of Southeast Texas, the Texas Cattleman's Association, and the American Angus Association. He is the owner of BAR HE Ranches and Shawn Hare Events and Design.
