This past weekend, the Orangefield Junior High Lady Bobcats traveled to Hardin-Jefferson for a tournament. Both teams had a strong showing, as they brought home 1st and 3rd place finishes!

The 7th grade A-team took on Hardin-Jefferson for the first game on Friday night. The Bobcats went up early and never looked back! The leading rebounder and leading scorer, Madison McCormack, made sure the Bobcats stayed on top throughout the game. Coming out of the half, Olivia Smith contributed six points in the third quarter alone, which helped to seal the first win 26-15. Bracket play continued Saturday morning, as the 7th grade Lady Cats took on Liberty. The Cats got off to a rough start and struggled to catch up throughout the game. Angelina Ragusa and Mikayla Locke fought valiantly to get the game within reach, but time ticked off quickly and they took a loss 20-15. Their last game was for the 3rd place trophy, which the Bobcats won in a dominating fashion, 39-2. Mikayla Locke scored 18 of the 39 total points, while Paisley Reeves and Briana Thibodeaux brought down the rebounds needed to keep the Bobcats on top of the Cubs.

The 8th grade A-team started off hot in their first game against Hardin-Jefferson. The duo of Charlee Sanches and Brooklyn Wagoner was too much for the Hawks to handle. The Lady Cats' press stifled the Hawks which allowed them to run away with a 38-9 win. Aubree Beck and Steeley Franklin's excellent defense played a vital role in shutting down the Hawks. On Saturday morning, the Cats played host to East Chambers and were forced to compete for all four quarters. Kendall Sullivan had a standout performance, shooting 75%! Her baseline drives were quick and accurate, and the Lady Bucs had no answer. Franklin led in assists, while Halle Becker had an excellent defensive performance, leading the team in steals. The Lady Cats pulled off a true team win, and they locked down the road to the Championship with a final score of 35-29. Continuing the same pattern, the Bobcats smothered the Little Cypress Cubs with 18 total steals. The Lady Cats executed the game plan flawlessly and were able to maintain the lead throughout the entire game. Sanches was poised throughout the game while leading the team in rebounds. Brooklyn Wagoner was the leading scorer with 14 points, to help secure the first place trophy for the Lady Cats!

The Lady Cats hope to continue the streak at the LCM Tournament next weekend, and would love for their fans to come out and support them!
