Last Thursday, the “Cardiac Cats” headed down the road to face the Silsbee Tigers for a 4-game extravaganza. The 7th grade B-team was the first team to try and cage the Tigers. Coach Ragsdale and his impenetrable 1-3-1 zone produced another win for his group. Nine of the eleven players scored, making this a great team victory for the Bobcats. Leading the way for this group were Gavin Gravett, Adam Myers, and AJ Pachuca, each scoring four points. Cooper Dorman and Kale Spears each hit a shot from downtown making sure the Tigers could not creep back into the game. The Cats took home the victory 26-14. The 8th grade B-team looked to keep things rolling after a long break with no games. Seth Smith took charge early hitting two three-pointers and he never let off the gas, scoring more than half of the team's points with 14 total. Kaleb Menard and Talon Bland contributed six points each, while also cleaning up the boards and hauling in all the rebounds. The Bobcats rolled to an easy 26-12 victory. The 7th grade A-team jumped out to an early lead, scoring 14 points in the first quarter. Unfortunately, the Tigers made a huge 22-point run in the middle of the second quarter, and the Bobcats were not able to recover. The game ended in a 54-41 loss. Players of the game were Carson Gonzales with 23 points and 12 rebounds, Elijah Jones with 5 points and 6 assists, and Kade Canizaro and Gunnar Griffin each hit a 3-pointer to keep it close. The 8th grade A-team struggled out of the gate with the 1-3-1 defense, only scoring 7 points in the first half. After adjustments were made, Jaden Scales and Mason Manning tried to make a comeback, but the Cats ended up falling to the Tigers 33-60. Manning led all scorers with 15, while Scales followed with a close 14. Rylan McAlpin and Griffin Thomas each contributed a late bucket. Bobcats will keep the show on the road, traveling to Little Cypress to take on the Cubs Thursday starting at 4:30.
