Bridge City Mayor David Rutledge, in recognition of his commitment to continuing educations, was recently awarded the Texas Municipal League Institute (TMLI) Certified Municipal Official designation.

The award was presented at the TMLI Awards ceremony at the Texas Municipal League and Texas Association of Mayors, Council members and Commissioners' Elected Officials' Conference on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 in Sugar Land. The recognition honors individuals who completed 62 or more continuing education units (CEUs) during the 2021 calendar year and is the top award in the TMLI program.

The required 62 CEUs included two hours of open government training. Only forty-six elected city officials from across Texas were honored with the 2022 Certified Municipal Official designation.

The TMLI program is designed to enhance the leadership and problem-solving capabilities of Texas' elected city officials. Participants are offered educational sessions on economic development, city revenue, ethics, governance, leadership, legislative issues, and more.

More than 150 elected officials from around the state attended the three-day conference. The Texas Municipal League is a voluntary association of 1,168 Texas cities. The City of Bridge City is a member of the Texas Municipal League.
