Chester Lee Istre, 66, of Orange, passed away on February 28, 2022, in Beaumont.

Born in Jennings, Louisiana, on October 26, 1955, he was the son of Dallas Istre and Theresa (LaCombe) Whitfield. Chester made a career of being a professional truck driver. He drove 18 wheelers all over the country and dump trucks locally, to provide for his family. Memorable moments for all were him taking his loved ones with him to spend quality time in the truck over the road. When he wasn’t working, he spent his time passionately beside

his family. He had many hobbies but of all he absolutely loved shrimping, fishing, playing card games, shooting pool, and ping ping’n the most. He loved family gatherings, the cookouts, the boils, reminiscing and enjoying music. There was not a stranger he didn’t meet and become friends with. His smile and wonderful personality was contagious.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dallas Istre and Theresa Whitfield; loving wife of 34 years, Sue Istre; and three siblings.

He is survived by his children, Maranda Guzman and husband Aaron of Bridge City, Matt Istre and wife Angel of West Orange, and Dallas Istre and Jenny of Gray, Louisiana; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren with one on the way; sister, Karen Johnson and Paul; daughter-in-law, Adrienne Grancis; and caretaker, Patty Lou Moore.

The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
