Bobby Dale Watkins, 75, Bridge City

Bobby Dale Watkins, 75, of Bridge City, passed away on June 1, 2022, at his home with his loved ones.

Bobby was born in Horn Beak, Tennessee, on February 18, 1947, he was the son of John Thomas Watkins and Dorothy Nell Morton.

He proudly served in the Army during Vietnam as a member of the Green Berets. Bobby later thrived in his successful career as a pipefitter at Gulf Refinery for several years before retiring. He was a huge fan of all things classic western, he loved John Wayne movies and Louis L’Amour books. Bobby was an exceptional gardener and enjoyed working in his yard. He had a number of fruit trees he grew, and many neighbors of Bobby would regularly be gifted a variety of fruits. He was also a dedicated member of the Orange Lions Club.

Bobby was a truly kind and giving person. He will truly be missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Morton; father, John Watkins; son, John Thomas Watkins; brothers, David Watkins, and Jerry Watkins.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Delores Sue Watkins of Bridge City; daughter and stepson, Tammy and Chuck Choate of Port Neches, Wesley D. Baber of Orange; sisters, Barbara and Larry Hixon of Greenville, Missouri, Nelda and Larry Cook of Jackson, Missouri; and sister-in-law, Lois Watkins of South Haven, Mississippi.

Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
