Shooting Death In Orange

Orange police early Friday morning arrested a 16-year-old boy for manslaughter in connection with the shooting death of 22-year-old Javien Bilbo inside a house on Cypress Avenue.

Detective Nick Medina said the teenager, who is a juvenile under the law, was taken to a juvenile detention center. Juvenile codes prohibit the

release of the boy's name.

Manslaughter, under the Texas Penal Code, is "recklessly" causing the death of an individual. The charge for an adult carries a punishment of

two to 20 years in state prison. The juvenile system operates separately.

Medina said police were called at 10:40 p.m. to the 400 block of Cypress Avenue because of a gunshot victim. They found Bilbo injured

inside the house. Acadian Ambulance staff tried to save him, but he was pronounced dead.

The 16-year-old was arrested about 3:30 a.m. Friday.
