BC Education Foundation sets fundraisers (to help teachers, students)

Last updated 8/16/2022 at 5:36pm

The Bridge City ISD Education Foundation has two fundraisers scheduled to help in the effort to raise money for special school projects.

The non-profit community group is sponsoring a Bridge City High School Alumni volleyball game on Friday, August 19, at 6 p.m. at the high school. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students. A concession stand with snacks for purchase will be open and proceeds will go to the foundation.

The Bridge City education foundation was started a couple of years ago by friends and alumni of the school district to assist in education. The foundation operates in cooperation with the school board of trustees and the administration.

Individual, business, corporate, and industrial donors are helping the foundation supplement teachers and school staff by helping them buy items to help with special projects or learning programs. A number of other public school districts in the region and in Orange County have similar education foundations.

The second fundraiser, which was announced this week, will be a benefit golf tournament set for Saturday, October 15, at Babe Zaharias Golf Course in Port Arthur. The tournament will be in the four-player team scramble format. Registration will be 7 a.m. October 15 at the golf course and Tee time will begin at 8 a.m.

The entry fee is $400 per team and the deadline to register is October 7. The foundation is also selling hole sponsorships for $100 per hole.

More information on registering for the tournament or on the education foundation is available through David Ess at 409-474-0340.
