Martha Marie Stanley Johnson, age 82, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at her home in Devils Pocket, Texas. She was born in Starks, Louisiana, on August 13, 1940. Mrs. Johnson loved to spend time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a longtime member of Old Laurel Baptist Church and was an avid reader.

She is survived by her son, Carl A. Johnson and his wife, Lisa, of Devils Pocket, TX, her daughter, Connie Moss and her husband, Ricky, of Buna, TX, two brothers, Edgar Stanley, of Starks, LA, and Jasper Stanley, of Vidor, TX, two sisters, Frankie Brandon, of Buna, TX, and Carrie Belle Williams, of Devils Pocket, TX, nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Carl L. Johnson, daughter, Vickie Stanley, daughter-in-law, Felicia Nelms Johnson, parents, Willie and Pearl Stanley, two brothers, Charlie Stanley and Edsel “Shorty” Stanley, and two sisters, Gladys Perkins and Willie Mae Statum.

Funeral services to honor Martha’s life will be held at 10:00 AM, on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at Dorman Funeral Home, with Brother Lee Everhart and Reverend Seth Williams officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Suddeth Bluff Cemetery, in Newton County. Family and friends will gather for a visitation, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at Dorman Funeral Home.

Pallbearers honoring Martha will be Nicholas Johnson, Joseph Moss, Chris Fikes, Robby Garrett, Zane Williams, and Seth Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathon Stanley.
