The Bridge City Lady Cardinals have opened district play with two wins. The first victory was three straight sets against the Silsbee Lady Tigers.

Bridge City followed with a thrilling five set match against the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Lady Bears which took two days September 13-14 to complete because of a power outage at the Dr. Pauline Colburn Hargrove Gymnasium. The Lady Cardinals won the first set and were leading in the second set when the power went out at the gym.

Action resumed on Wednesday, September 14, and Bridge City took the advantage it had when the lights went off the night before to win the second game. The Lady Bears rallied on their home court to win the next two sets and forced a deciding fifth set.

The Lady Cardinals regrouped to win the final set decisively. The score was 15-6 in favor of Bridge City.

The Lady Cardinals had a bye on Friday, September 16, before they resumed action on Tuesday against the Vidor Lady Pirates. Bridge City's next game will be Friday at Lumberton.
