Beatrice Marie Dupree Dommert passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on September 18, 2022.

Beatrice was born February 13, 1933, to her father, Eugene Dupree and her mother, Della Caruthers Dupree, on a houseboat, in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana. After moving to Texas from Louisiana, Beatrice and her parents were active members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and Beatrice attended St. Mary’s Catholic School. On December 22, 1950, she was united in marriage to William “Bill” Dommert Jr. They were married for almost 53 years and became lifelong residents of Orange, Texas, where they raised four beautiful children together.

“Ms. B”, “Tut”, or “Dot”, as many called her, was hell on wheels and had a heart of gold. Despite the tragedies she experienced in her 89 years of life, she never let anything drag her down. These tragedies made her compassionate, generous, and wise. Her generosity knew no bounds. She loved to tell a good joke and her laugh was contagious. She was the strongest woman and a three time cancer survivor. She worked devotedly for BCISD for 29 years and loved all of her kids, as she would call them. She adored her school family and made many lifelong friendships. She enjoyed raising her children and was a wonderful cook, infamously known for her Gumbo. She loved a good seafood boil and could put away some crawfish, and crabs. She was passionate about her flowers and enjoyed writing letters, crocheting, and reading books. She loved all of God’s little animals and went many times without, to feed stray animals. She had a servant’s heart and cared for many family members, during their final stages of life. She loved fiercely and if she had your back, there was nothing she wouldn’t do for you.

Beatrice was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Dommert, Jr and her son, Earnest “Dale” Dommert.

She is survived by her children, Phyllis Hagler and husband, David, Jacinda Odom, and Douglas Dommert. She was the proud grandmother of Derrick Hagler and wife, Tressa, Elaina Bickers, Craig Dommert and wife, Jennifer, and Jayci Hernandez and husband, Even; Great-grandmother of Sarah McCloskey, Ashlyn Dommert, and Zack Dommert; Great-great-grandmother of David Reeves; and she was excitedly looking forward to the birth of her 4th great-grandchild, Hadley Hernandez. Beatrice was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, wife, and friend. She was a remarkable woman whose legacy will live on through her family and many friends. She will be deeply missed and celebrated always.

Arrangements were made under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home.
