Last Thursday, the Deweyville Pirates and the Buna Cougars came rolling into F.L. Mclain for a three-game extravaganza. The combined B team took the field first to try and sink the ship of the rival Pirates. The offense struggled early but found traction later on. Mikey Lecea was the lone offensive stand-out, as he easily had over 100 yards rushing and scored the only points for the Bobcats, with a touchdown run and a 2-point conversion. The defense did the best they could but ran out of gas as Deweyville sailed off into the sunset late in the fourth. The defensive standouts were Camden Jeanis and Kaden Johnson, both of whom made several huge plays and racked up several tackles on the night. The Cats lost 20-8 and moved to 0-2 on the season. The 7th grade A-team was next up, taking on the Cougars from Buna. After a very motivational speech from Coach Legate, the 7th graders came out on fire and never let off the gas. The offensive line went to work bulldozing their way through the defense allowing the backs to do their thing. Offensive standouts were Gage Lucas, who scored two touchdowns and ran for over 50 yards, and Jaxon Agerton who connected with Hunter Block on a magical pitch and catch for a 14-yard touchdown. Hunter Reeves also converted twice on 2-point conversions as he eased his way back onto that side of the ball. The defense decided to put up their first shutout of the night, and finally played up to their potential. This unit caused four turnovers including two interceptions and two fumbles. There were several standouts, starting with Case Comeaux recovering a fumble and contributing three sacks on the night. Agerton and Logan Anderson both had interceptions, with Anderson nearly returning his for a score and Agerton taking his all the way to the house. The unquestioned player of the game was Jaxon Agerton as he made plays in all three facets of the game on defense, offense, and special teams. This young man had a really special night. The Bobcats won 28-0 and are 2-1 on the year and 1-0 in district. After all that excitement, the 8th graders were looking to get in the win column, as well. This game was close from start to finish, and the Bobcats' defense stepped up and did their job to give the Cats a shot at winning at the end. This unit was led by Damion Kelley, who was recently moved up and had the best game of his young career. He had an interception, a fumble recovery, and made several key tackles protecting the edge. Also standing out on defense was Jackson Luker, who had an interception with a long return, and Kale Spears who recovered a fumble. The offense was sluggish early, trailing 8-0 going into the 3rd quarter until Carson Gonzales scored the lone touchdown of the night. Unfortunately, Gonzales could not drag them all the way to victory but did an admirable job under center in the 4th. The Bobcats came up short, losing 14-8 with a shot to win it with 14 seconds left in the game. This moves them to 0-3 for the year and 0-1 in district.

The Bobcats will be back on the road next week to take on the Anahuac Panthers on Thursday.
