The Bridge City Cardinals stayed unbeaten in district action but they had a tough match on Friday, October 14. The Lady Cardinals defeated the Vidor Lady Pirates in five sets at Vidor.

The Lady Pirates won the first set 25-19 to grab the early lead. The Lady Cardinals rebounded and won the next two sets 25-17 and 25-18. Vidor forced a fifth set with a 25-23 win in the fourth set. Bridge City played a solid final set winning it 15-7 to capture the match.

Coach Savanah DeLuna admitted it was a tough battle for her Lady Cardinals to grab the win and stay undefeated against district opponents. "Definitely. Lots of errors but they found some grit and were able to pull out the win. That's what matters. Proud of them nonetheless," DeLuna replied.

The Lady Cardinals got a superb effort from Demi Carter with 19 kills, 4 blocks, and 3 aces. Taryn Doiron was outstanding with 12 kills, 20 digs, and 22 assists. Anna Kelly produced 13 kills and 13 digs. Makenna Knight contributed 5 kills, 4 blocks, and 4 digs. Cambree LaComb was the leader for Bridge City with 25 assists, and Lexi Nugier had 19 digs.

The win over Vidor was the only match last week for Bridge City. The Lady Cardinals played Lumberton on Tuesday, October 18, and play the Jasper Lady Bulldogs on Friday in Bridge City.
