The Bridge City Lady Cardinals continued to fly high atop the district volleyball standings. The Lady Cardinals are undefeated in district play 11-0 through last week.

On Tuesday, October 18, Bridge City defeated the Lumberton Lady Raiders in three sets and led practically from start to finish in all three sets. The scores reflected the dominance of the Lady Cardinals 25-18, 25-18, and 25-17 in the match.

Demi Carter and Cambree LaComb provided strong serving in the first set. Anna Kelly scored the winning point with a kill at the net.

In the second set Lexi Nugier served well to put the Lady Cardinals up 18-10. Makenna Knight served out the set for Bridge City.

The third set was a repeat of the opening set with Carter and LaComb stringing serves together to help the Lady Cardinals take a commanding 19-8 advantage. Carter made a kill to end the match for another Bridge City victory.

For the night Carter was the leader with 11 kills for Bridge City. Kelly had 8 kills and 2 aces. Taryn Doiron produced 9 kills, served 4 aces, and had 18 assists. LaComb had 9 assists and 3 aces. Lexi Nugier contributed 7 digs and served 3 aces.

Coach Savanah DeLuna analyzed the straight set win for the Lady Cardinals against Lumberton. "Tonight we just played more composed. We had better serves, we were spot serving a lot better, there was better communication, we were able to put the ball down, it was a big improvement over last Friday's five-set win against Vidor," DeLuna said.

The Lady Cardinals made short work of the Jasper Lady Bulldogs on Friday, October 21. Bridge City swept the match in three sets with impressive scores of 25-12 in the first two sets and 25-11 in the final set.

Demi Carter and Taryn Doiron were dominating with 10 kills apiece. Carter also had 2 blocks and served 3 aces. Doiron provided 10 assists.

Cambree LaComb led the Cardinals with 15 assists and 4 aces. Lexi Nugier had 9 digs and 2 aces.

Bridge City closed out the district schedule on Tuesday against the West Orange-Stark Lady Mustangs. The Lady Cardinals have clinched the district championship but will not know their first round opponent probably until Friday because of a tie in the other district. The bi-district round should start Tuesday, November 1 for the Lady Cardinals.
