High School Bi-District Playoff Games This Week

BELLVILLE (10-0) over WEST ORANGE-STARK (5-5)—7:30 p.m. Friday at Splendora—In a normal year these won-loss records would be reversed. But this season has been anything but normal for the Mustangs. It looks like a One-And-Done for the ‘Stangs unless they can come up with a “miracle upset”.

LITTLE CYPRESS-MAURICEVILLE (6-4) over KILGORE (7-3)—7 p.m. Friday at Abe Martin Stadium in Lufkin—The Battlin’ Bears must really battle to upset this opponent. They must reach back into their bag of tricks from last year’s great playoff run to make it to the next round. But I feel like they can!!!

ORANGEFIELD (8-2) over SHEPHERD (5-5) –7 p.m. Thursday at Sheldon ISD Stadium—The Bobcats were a very creditable team in Class 4A, so it’s not a huge surprise that they ran through District 10-3A as undefeated league champions after dropping down to 3A. But it’s the playoffs and anything can happen. Head Coach Josh Smalley will make sure nothing happens but another Bobcat victory.

VIDOR (6-4) over LINDALE (6-4)—Although the Pirates aren’t the district champs this year, it looks like they could advance further in the state playoffs in 2022.

DEWEYVILLE (7-3) over Tenaha (5-5) --7 p.m. Friday at Eagle Stadium in Woodville—Normally this would be categorized as an upset in previous years and could very well be that again Friday night. But the Pirates have been playing good football and should go to the next round if that continues.

NEW MEXICO STATE over LAMAR—The Cards are reaching out to another Division I opponent and should give them a good run for the big money they should get, but it looks like another loss for Lamar. However, an upset is not out of the question.

McNEESE STATE over HOUSTON CHRISTIAN—The Cowboys have been playing better football the second half of the season than at the beginning and could very well be formulating a mini-winning streak.
