Mustangs and Cardinals chosen as All District

Sophomore Marcus Turner quarterbacked the Mustangs the last nine games of the season and was named Newcomer of the Year on Offense by district coaches

Members of the West Orange-Stark Mustangs and the Bridge City Cardinals football teams were selected to the 9-4A Division II All-District team. The names of the players selected as All-District were not to be announced until all the schools in the district were eliminated from the University Interscholastic League state football playoffs. The district champion Silsbee Tigers lost a thrilling triple overtime game 58-56 to the Cuero Gobblers on Friday, December 2.

Leading the list from West Orange-Stark quarterback Marcus Turner was selected by the district's coaches as the Newcomer of the Year on Offense. Turner just a sophomore took over the reins of the Mustang offense in Week 4 of the season against the Newton Eagles and started every game from that point to the end of season in the first round of the playoffs.

Another Mustang deserving special recognition is Dakarion Judge who was selected 1st Team All-District at three positions and 2nd Team at another. Judge was voted to the first team on offense at wide receiver and kick returner. On defense Judge was the first team punt returner and chosen to the second team as a safety.

Andrew Wilson of West Orange-Stark was named to the 1st Team as the center on offense and to the 2nd Team in the defensive line. Junior Nicholas Crosson was honored as 2nd Team All-District as a wide receiver on offense and at a corner back on defense.

The Mustangs placed two more lineman on the first team offensive unit. Josh Miller and Daylen Edwards were so honored. Members of the first team on defense from West Orange-Stark included Deshawn Brunson at inside linebacker, Jailen Brown as an outside linebacker, and cornerback Jamaal Shaw all seniors.

Austin Bellanger of the Cardinals received Honorable Mention on offense as a kick returner and on defense at corner back

Second team All-District honors went to sophomore Raymond Mallet at running back on offense. Chosen to the second team on defense were Clayton Whatley in the defensive line, Jalen Gilmore at inside linebacker, and A'Myrian Scott as an outside linebacker.

Bridge City had three Cardinals named to the 2nd Team All-District Defense. Mason Pruitt was a leader for Bridge City on defense all season and was named all district at inside linebacker for his outstanding play during the year. Juniors Nick Lejeune in the defensive line and punter Gavin Bodin also got second team recognition from the district coaches.

Seven Cardinals received Honorable Mention. Austin Bellanger was named on offense as a kick returner and as a corner back on defense. On offense tight end Noah Broussard, linemen Ayden Richardson and Matt Livingston got honorable mentions. Defensive honorable mention went to Bryce Linder and Kayden Kibodeaux in the defensive line and to Jagger Carlin at corner back for Bridge City.
