Lady Bobcats even their district record

Two games into the district schedule the Orangefield Lady Bobcats had a win and a loss. The district games started on Tuesday, December 6 for the Lady Bobcats.

The district opener was at Kountze and the Lionettes played a very good game. Kountze won 58-25 over Orangefield.

The second game was better news for the Lady Bobcats at home on Friday, December 9. Orangefield defeated the Kirbyville Lady Wildcats 56-22 to even their record (1-1) in district.

Post Greenlea Oldham was the leader for the Lady Bobcats. Oldham had a double-double with 10 points to go with her 10 rebounds.

The Lady Bobcats had balanced scoring with four other players scoring at least six points. Harleigh Rawls dropped in 9 including a fourth quarter three pointer. Brianna Moore and Brooklyn Wagoner both had 8 points while Ava Dyer chipped in with 6 points.

Sterling Richard was strong on defense with 5 steals and 3 rebounds for the Lady Bobcats. She added 3 points to the scoring.

Coach Eric Girola expressed his satisfaction with the win over Kirbyville. “I’m excited to get a district win. Our scoring was spread out which is a good thing with all but two of the Lady Bobcats getting in the scorebook,” Girola elaborated. “We hit a few jump shots which is always welcomed and so it was good.”

Tuesday the Lady Bobcats played the Buna Lady Cougars at Orangefield. The next district game for the Orangefield Lady Bobcats will not be until the New Year when they play at Hardin on January 3. In the interim Orangefield will host the Bill Tennison Tournament December 27-28.
