Bobcats finish first half in second place

Orangefield's Pete Ragusa registered a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds in the Bobcats' win over Kountze and led the Bobcats with 24 points in a blowout win with Kirbyville

The first half of games for District 22-3A was completed on Friday, January 20. The Orangefield Bobcats (21-6) won their two games played last week in convincing style to occupy second place in the district one game behind the East Chambers Buccaneers with seven district games remaining.

On Tuesday, January 17, the Bobcats played the Kountze Lions in Orangefield. The Bobcats took the early lead 16-6 after one quarter and coasted to a 70-47 triumph.

Orangefield's Pete Ragusa had an outstanding game registering a double-double for the Bobcats with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Ragusa also had 8 assists just missing the triple-double by two.

Kane Smith scored 13 points for Orangefield during the Bobcats win against Kountze

It was a night of balanced scoring for Orangefield with three Bobcats finishing in double figures and eight players getting at least a point in the game. Kane Smith was second in points for the Bobcats with 13, Jaden Scales tossed in 12, and Morgan Sampson contributed 9 to the cause.

Friday night Orangefield traveled to Kirbyville and whipped the Wildcats by over fifty points. The Bobcats outscored the Wildcats 30-8 in the opening period and closed with a 21-3 margin in the fourth quarter resulting in a 75-24 final score.

Ragusa led the Bobcats in scoring with 24 points. Zane Wrinkle made 13 points while leading Orangefield with 7 rebounds. Scales scored in double figures again with 10 points. Brayden Parker tallied 6 points and dished out 7 assists.

The second half of district started Tuesday, January 24, at Buna for the Orangefield Bobcats who are 6-1 in district games. The Bobcat's next game will be Friday at Orangefield against the Hardin Hornets.
