Jerry Wayne Hughes, 63, of Orange, Texas, passed away on January 28, 2023, at his home in Orange.

Born in Port Arthur, Texas, on September 6, 1959, he was the son of Noble Chester Hughes and Charlie Mae (Mooneyham) Hughes.

Jerry was employed at The Sign Doctor in Orange for many years. During his free time, he enjoyed watching football and car races, specifically NASCAR. Jerry invested his heart and pride into the cars he worked on and thought of these as his one true love. His family remembers him for his hilarious sense of humor and how he kept everyone laughing. Jerry’s family will go on to cherish the memories they have with him forever.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Noble Chester Hughes and Charlie Mae (Mooneyham) Hughes; sisters, Dot Weigand and Shirley Goodeaux; and brother, Ronnie Hughes.

He is survived by his son, Adam Hughes and wife, Cierra of Orange; granddaughters, Alayna Hughes and Alissa Hughes; brothers, Larry Hughes; sisters, Sue Anderson, Mary Scrivner-Hickey, June Chambers, and Judy Hughes.


A private service for the family of Jerry Hughes will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home.
