Shirley Stovall Lowe, 97, Orange

Shirley Stovall Lowe, 97, of Orange, Texas, passed away on February 4, 2023. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 10, 2023, at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange. Officiating will be Brother James Lee of Landmark United Pentecostal Church in Port Neches. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., Friday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Flat, Texas on July 21, 1925, she was the daughter of Raymond Stovall and Edna Stovall. Shirley was a faithful follower of Christ and a dedicated, lifelong member of Landmark United Pentecostal Church in Port Neches.

After marrying her husband, Charles, she became an ordained minister with United Pentecostal Church International. Shirley and Charles went on to build and pastor churches in Bridge City, Texas, Nederland, Texas, and Port Neches, Texas. She also assisted with building a church in Haiti. Shirley ministered in Hawaii, Jamaica, and Puerto Rico. Just recently, she received the 70-year Hall of Faith Award from United Pentecostal Church International.

Even in Shirley’s later years, she spread the word of God by handing out thousands of gospel tracks. She spent her years caring for her home and her family. Shirley was a loving mother and grandmother, and her family cherishes the time spent with her. She was a true inspiration to Christian women, and she will be remembered fondly by all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Charles Lowe; her parents, Raymond Stovall and Edna Stovall; her sister, Virginia McDonald; her brothers, Roma Stovall, Laverne Stovall, Elmo Stovall, and Raymond Stovall; her special nephew, Eddie McDonald; and her special niece, Linda Barbay.

She is survived by her son, Robert Michael Lowe; grandchildren, Michael Lowe and Melissa Chesson; great-grandchildren, Hannah Lowe and Cooper Lowe; and nephew, Eddie McDonald.
