Marie Frances Gonsoulin Delcambre “Zook”, 81, of Bridge City, Texas passed away on March 2nd, 2023 at Focused Care in Orange. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm Tuesday, March 7th, 2023, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City with a rosary to follow.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held starting at 1:00 pm at St. Henry Catholic Church in Bridge City.

Officiating will be Rev. Father Ernie Carpio, Pastor of St. Henry Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange, Texas.

Born in Loreauville, Louisiana (Belle Place), on August 21st, 1941, she was the daughter of Vernice (Provost) Gonsoulin Prados, Frank Luzin Gonsoulin, and Willie Joseph Prados. Frances was a Cafeteria Worker at Bridge City Independent School District for over 25 years, where she was known district-wide for her famous rolls. She was a devoutly religious Catholic and in her later years attended mass every day. Frances regularly socialized at the Bridge City Senior Citizen’s Hall where she loved playing bingo with friends.


The family would like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice Care and Focused Care in Orange; and her exceptional nurse Tameka for loving and caring for Frances during this difficult time.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Walter Laodice Delcambre, Jr .; her daughter, Terri Lynn Delcambre; and her parents, Vernice, Frank, and Willie.

She is survived by her daughter, Renee Newsom, and husband, Dan of Bridge City, Texas; grandchildren, Jeffery Gibbs, Sr. and wife, Wendy, of Orangefield, TX, Bree Newsom, of Boston, MA, and Cale Newsom, of Bridge City, TX; and great-grandchildren, Shayleigh Gibbs, Jeffery Gibbs, Jr. and Jaxon Gibbs, all of Orangefield, TX.


Serving as Pallbearers will be Dan Newsom, Cale Newsom, Jeffery Gibbs, Sr., Ronald Delcambre, Gary West, and David McDuffie with Honorary Pallbearer, Robert Delcambre.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
