Weidner and Bearden qualify for state powerlifting

Hallie Bearden and Avery Weidner of Bridge City set regional records in winning their weight classes and will compete in the state powerlifting competition on March 24-25 in Abilene
The Bridge City Lady Powerlifters competed in the regional championship over the first weekend in March. Two of the ladies Avery Weidner and Hallie Bearden from Bridge City qualified for the state meet on March 24-25 in Abilene.
Both Weidner and Bearden set regional records in their respective weight classes. Weidner in the 97-pound weight class benched a record 135 pounds. Bearden benched a record 810 pounds in the 114-pound weight class.
Weidner lifted a total of 605 pounds to finish first in her weight class. Bearden topped all the lifters in her class with 810 pounds. The Bridge City Lady Powerlifters are coached by Rachel Hamerly.
