Hallee Becker did what a leadoff hitter is supposed to do as she got three hits to help Orangefield beat Hardin

The first half of district softball action is completed in District 22-3A. The Orangefield Lady Bobcats are tied for first place but have a difficult road ahead to start the second half of their district schedule.

The Lady Bobcats won their fourth straight district game on Friday, March 24, at Hardin 12-3 over the Lady Hornets. The victory raised Orangefield's district record to 6-1 which is tied with Kirbyville for the best in the district and one game ahead of Kountze and Anahuac.

Pitcher Abigail Curphey had another strong game in the circle for Orangefield giving up three runs all of which were unearned on six hits. Curphey struck out seven Lady Hornets in the game.

One of the top hitting stars on Friday for Orangefield was leadoff batter Hallee Becker who had three hits. Hallee scored two runs and drove in two runs.

Another Lady Bobcat who swung a big bat was Charlee Sanches who homered, drove in two runs, and scored two runs. Aubree Beck and Abby Broussard both scored two runs while Hallee's sister Paris had an RBI and a run scored.

Orangefield coach Rebekah Ragsdale is glad to get the win against Hardin with the next three games for the Lady Bobcats all against top teams. "We rounded out the first half of district against Hardin on Friday. Now we have to go through the gauntlet of Kountze, Anahuac, and Kirbyville. We got the win against Hardin and now we need to be ready for the second half of district," Ragsdale advised.

This week Orangefield has the two second place teams Kountze and Anahuac on the schedule. The Lady Bobcats beat Kountze 3-1 at Orangefield in the first district game this season and lost at home to Anahuac 10-5 before starting their four game winning streak.

The Lady Bobcats played at Kountze on Tuesday, March 28, and will visit Anahuac the last day of March. On Tuesday, April 4, Kirbyville comes to Orangefield. The Lady Bobcats won the first game between those two teams 3-1 at Kirbyville.
