Barbara Sue Guevara, 62, Beaumont

Barbara Sue Guevara, 62, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away April 20, 2023, surrounded by loved ones at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 28, 2023, at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 28, 2023, at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont. Born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, on October 11, 1960, Barbara was the daughter of Alton Gilley and Beulah (Childers) Hanshaw.

She was an animal lover through and through, feeding every stray she could. Her favorite animals, however, were her weenie dogs, Chiquilla, Hooch, Rimshot, Sophie, and Tribile. In her free time, she enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her family, all of whom will fondly remember her wild heart and sarcastic nature that kept them laughing. Barbara was a wonderful mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her father, Alton Gilley; mother, Beulah Hanshaw and husband, Jo Dell Hanshaw; son, Joe Charles Trahan; and sister, Linda Clark.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Leticia Perez and husband, Juan; sons, James Trahan and wife, Maria, and Brian Trahan and wife, Jennifer. Her grandchildren: Destiny Jasso, Kristofer Garcia, Rogelio Garcia, Jr., Yazeth Garcia, Antonio Perez, Juan A. Perez, Mireya Perez, Nayeli Perez, Brandon Alvarado, Angelica Trahan, Jamie Trahan, James A. Trahan, Joseph Nuckols, and Kaydence Clevland. Her great-grandchildren: Bella Rose Garcia, Aziel Garcia, Cambrey Trahan, and Adrian Oliva. Her brothers: James W. Gilley, Robert Gilley, and Joseph Gilley; sisters, Jeanette Maddox, Margie Schexnider, Jeannie Bougious, and Marlene Davis; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving friends and family.
