John A. Ford, Jr. was born on July 21, 1961 in Port Arthur, TX and passed away following a brief illness in Houston, TX on April 5, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. John, affectionately known to many as “Bubba” was a resident of Cypress, TX and formerly of Bridge City, TX.

John was preceded in death by his parents John and Geraldine Ford, his brother Mark K. Ford and his precious daughter Rachel Taryn Ford. He is survived by his wife Melinda Becker and her children Morgan and Dylan, his son Daniel Ford and wife Lynae and their three children Ryleigh, Taryn and Samuel of Kerrville, TX. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Vicki and Bill Stein of Missouri City, TX. He was “Uncle John” to many nieces and nephews.

While in Bridge City, John and his family were members of Liberty Baptist Church. He had a very kind heart and never met a stranger. John attended Lamar University but it didn’t take long for him to realize he would be much happier and more successful with a different career path. He started as an apprentice helper and then worked as an electrician for Hubbard Electric in Bridge City for a number of years.

John was Owner of J&D’s Pool and Spa in Bridge City. He was well known across the Golden Triangle Area for his excellent craftsmanship in designing, building, and servicing pools. After several years, he sold the business and moved to the Houston area.

John was an avid hunter and fisherman. He especially loved to spend time in the woods with his bow and arrow where he developed his archery skills. John passed on his love of the outdoors to his children, Daniel and Rachel, and they often accompanied him to his favorite hunting places. John was a major NASCAR fan and loved to watch his favorite drivers. He enjoyed riding motor cycles as well. John loved to cook and mastered many of the delicious meals his mother made over the years.

After moving to Houston, John met Melinda Becker. Melinda fell in love with John and he with her, and they were married in 2013. John and Melinda enjoyed participating in local activities and attending festivals. They also enjoyed traveling but most of all, they enjoyed being together.

John was a Christian and loved the Lord. He found comfort listening to music and in reading the word, especially the Psalms. He will be missed, but the family knows they will be reunited with John in the Lord’s timing. A celebration to honor the life of John A. Ford, Jr. will be held on Monday, May 22, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Liberty Baptist Church, 2717 W Round Bunch Rd, in Bridge City, TX.
