Mary Lou Syrek, 70, of Orange, passed away on May 8, 2023, peacefully at home.

A gathering for family and friends will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday, May 12, 2023, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Orange, Texas, on September 16, 1952, she was the daughter of Marvin Eugene Brant and Margie (Motte) Brant. Mary worked at Arlanxeo as a forklift operator for many years. She loved her job very much and was proud of the work she did. Mary enjoyed taking vacations, especially on cruises where she got to travel all over. When she wasn’t working, Mary would go fishing, play slot machines, or go to flea markets. She loved her grandchildren very much and would often spend time with as much as she could. Christmas was her all-time favorite and loved when all of the family would get together. Mary was a wonderful and loving, wife, mother, and grandmother and will be deeply missed by those who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Margie Brant; husband, Frank J. Syrek; sister, Donna Boone; and brother, David Eugene Brant.

She is survived by her sons, Robert Thiel of Orange, and Anthony Syrek of San Antonio; daughters, Michelle Thiel of Orange, and Angela Thiel of San Antonio; grandchildren, Jeremy Jacob Thiel, Christian Elijah Thiel, and Jaxxson Levi Thiel; siblings, Ella Bergeron, June Franzence, Nora Accosta, and Linda Kay Brant; as well as numerous other loving family and friends.

Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
