Otis Ray Hennigan, 70, Orange

Otis Ray Hennigan, 70, of Orange, Texas, passed away on May 17, 2023, peacefully at home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 22, 2023, at First Baptist Church in Deweyville. Officiating will be Brother Damon Bickham. Burial will follow at Deweyville Cemetery.

Visitation will begin prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., at First Baptist Church in Deweyville.

Born in Orange, Texas, on November 6, 1952, he was the son of Huey R. Hennigan and Merlene (Johnson) Mitchell. Otis worked as a Boilermaker for Local #587 for many years before he retired. He was an avid carpenter and helped build the family life center and was the overseer while building the educational building for the First Baptist Church of Deweyville. Otis was an avid hunter and fisherman. When he was not working, Otis enjoyed being outdoors and being with his family. Otis was a wonderful husband, father, brother, and grandfather, and will be missed by all.


He is preceded in death by his parents, Huey R. Hennigan and Merlene Mitchell; and grandparents, Ira and Madge Hennigan, and Fred and Hettie Johnson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Kay Mohn Hennigan; stepmother, Jeanette Hennigan; daughter, Michelle Hennigan of Orange; son Charles Hennigan and wife, Selena of Orange; granddaughter, Lydia P. Hennigan; siblings, Sharlene Rosetta of Houston, and Chestene Kessler and husband, Steve of West Columbia; stepsiblings, Brian Rader, Lisa Rader Brinson, Beth Rader Murray, and Christy Rader Davis; as well as other loving family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joey McKee, Clint Locklin, Billy R. McBryde, Richard Seago, Lloyd McBryde, Jr., Casey Stark, and Charlie Hennigan. Honorary pallbearers are Gerald Jones, Ira Borel, Fred Johnson, Gary Langton, Lloyd McBryde, Sr., and Charles Rawls. Pee Wee Honorary pallbearer is Lydia P. Hennigan.


The family of Otis would like to extend a special thank you to the employees of Compassion Hospice for the care they provide to not only Otis, but to his family as well.
